At the 8th Process Management Academy (PMA) on March 5 and 6, 2012 in  Antwerp, Belgium, INOSIM has contributed valuable impulses once more. The established professional forum is organised regularly by the technical periodical Process together with consultant ARC. This year, PMA again provided a forum for exchange, learning, and contact, all addressed to executives and experts from process industries.

On a professional forum, INOSIM employee Torsten Hellenkamp supported a workshop on Energy Efficiency. He pointed out that the energetic specific features of batch processes require a special kind of energy integration, on account of their high dynamics. Energy recovery in the production process as well as the potentials for energy storage and energy conversion can be detected by simulation. Thus potentials become identifiable, enabling quick changes to the scrutinized plant.

In another PMA professional forum, Katrin Sulzbacher reported on the benefits provided by consulting services for process engineering in research. Katrin works in the Dortmund research group around prof Schembecker. A main focus of their research is the development of a systematic methodology for bioprocess development. The challenges to bioprocess simulation and the solution strategies developed with the aid of simulation software were shown.
