ECCE 2019: INOSIM Introduces Solutions For Future Production Logistics

The European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) promotes a series of biannual events, known as ECCE (European Congress Of Chemical Engineering). This year’s meeting was held in Florence, Italy, from September 15 to 19. Combined with the 5th European Congress of Applied Biotechnology (ECAB).

The scientific program brought innovative solutions to respond to major societal challenges. Plenary, keynote, invited and contributed lectures brought the visitors up to date in all topical areas of modern chemical and biochemical engineering to address solutions to global challenges.

Talk on future production logistics

At the 12th European Congress Of Chemical Engineering, INOSIM presented a talk. Dominik Wolff reported on the latest results from our participation in the EU-funded LEGOLAS project. First, he introduced the interested audience to the objectives of this project as well as the concept of modular production logistics: Increasing market volatility and shorter product cycles require flexible and reconfigurable logistics systems. On the basis of a case study by the project partner Imperial Logistics, it was presented how the newly developed bulk recipe modules can be used to simulate complex logistics networks with INOSIM Software. The alternatives generated by the LEGOLAS Assist System (LAS-Tool) can be evaluated by simulation with our software using quantitative KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). The resulting transparency facilitates the planning of flexible modular logistics systems. After his lecture, Dominik Wolff was delighted with the interest not only in the LEGOLAS project, but in simulation with INOSIM Software in general.
